The width of this form was the first Press form which fitted the teleprinter machines. At that time however, the P.M.G. was leasing private lines to some subscribers and so it was not necessary for them to use standard printed forms.

The June 1956 Post Office Monthly Circular contained the following:

TELEGRAPH:

13 Telegraph Stationery - Side-Mast telegram forms in rolls. Transmission of Press on machine systems.
In order to identify press messages from other classes of telegraph traffic received on side mast stationery, please note that operators on machine systems should transmit the word "Press" in full as the first word in the preamble of a Press telegram, in lieu of the letter "P" representing "Press" as prescribed at present"
.

This instruction indicates the common use of ordinary roll stationery rather than the specially headed stationery for Press telegrams.
